Health Catalyst CEO Dan Burton has been named one of the top 30 Gartner CEO Talent Champions of 2022. Through this list, Gartner, Inc recognizes an elite group of top executives that have led their organizations to outstanding talent outcomes and set a best-in-class standard, as evaluated through a rigorous analysis of four quantitative assessments.
Using a combination of sequential assessments and trusted third-party metrics, Gartner analyzed the talent outcomes for all the current CEOs of companies in the Russell 3000® U.S. index, with a minimum two-year tenure in their role as of January 1, 2020. Burton joins an elite group of leaders on Gartner’s 2022 list, including Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft Corporation CEO Satya Nadella, HP Inc. CEO Enrique Lores, and Humana Inc. CEO Bruce D. Broussard.
The 2022 CEO Talent Champions are distinguished as the most talent-oriented one percent of these leaders, as demonstrated in four distinct areas of achievement, including Financial Performance, Talent-Related Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Metrics, Employee Voice, and Commitment to Employee Value Proposition (EVP).
"At Health Catalyst one of our core operating principles is respect. We recognize the immeasurable value of every individual, and we strive to live by this every day," said Burton. "Living by our core values, we consistently have worked to make Health Catalyst an inclusive and supportive environment where all our team members feel valued and can thrive."
Burton’s leadership at Health Catalyst is founded on his commitment to the Golden Rule—treating others as one wishes to be treated. This is evident in the work culture he has helped to build around the company’s core set of values, which include humility, ownership, improvement, respect, and transparency.
Over the past several years, these values have been put into action across the company through initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace, extensive onboarding and continuing education programs, educational assistance and reimbursement, equity ownership grants, generous compensation packages and benefits, and an employee stock purchase program.
“CEOs who take a human approach empower their organization to better attract and retain talent, while enabling employees to achieve great outcomes,” said Anna Krasniewska, Group Vice President in the Gartner HR practice. “Supporting employees as whole people is the right thing to do, both for individuals and for the business.”
Burton’s commitment to providing thoughtful leadership and support to each of Health Catalyst’s team members has also helped guide the company’s mission-driven data and analytics technology growth toward measurable improvements in clinical, financial, and operational outcomes, and building deep partner relationships across the industry.
