Health Catalyst Embedded Application Suite Achieves HITRUST r2 Certification

Posted in

Health Catalyst Embedded Application Suite earned HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year (r2) Certified status for information security. This suite includes two applications, Embedded Care Gaps and Embedded Refills. The certification demonstrates that the infrastructure of Embedded Care Gaps and Embedded Refills meets key compliance requirements across a wide range of industry standards and frameworks, as well as federal and state regulations.

Embedded Care Gaps is a fully embedded EHR application that combines a powerful rules engine with a patient-visit solution. Seamlessly integrating into the health organization’s EHR, Embedded Care Gaps provides clinicians with a real-time picture of gaps in patient care. By maximizing patient visits, healthcare organizations can improve quality and reduce lost revenue from unperformed procedures and poor outcomes–all while enhancing patient care and preventing inefficient workflows that lead to provider burnout.

The Embedded Refills application streamlines the prescription renewal workflow. With each refill request, Embedded Refills reviews the information in a patient’s chart alongside a comprehensive library of more than 1,000 protocols, providing the clinician with a data-informed decision in less than a minute.

Earning the r2 Certification on September 23, 2022, ensures clients that the Health Catalyst Embedded Application Suite is at the leading edge of industry best practices for information risk management and compliance. Incorporating a widely accepted risk-based approach, the HITRUST Assurance Program addresses security and data protection challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.

“HITRUST knows that, without a sufficient level of reliability, an assurance report doesn’t provide the requisite level of assurances required to make important business decisions. That’s why we focus on producing the highest quality reports available,” said Vincent Bennekers, Vice President of Quality at HITRUST. “The achievement of a HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year Certification provides reliable assurances that Health Catalyst is taking information risk management and compliance seriously.”

“Information security is a foundational part of Health Catalyst’s mission to drive massive, measurable, data-informed healthcare improvement,” said Kevin Scharnhorst, Chief Information Security Officer at Health Catalyst. “Health Catalyst’s Refill Management team continually monitors 40 of the leading guidance sources and provides necessary updates for protocol changes that ensure the safe delivery of care.”

Three additional Health Catalyst systems — KPI Ninja by Health Catalyst™, Health Catalyst Interoperability (HCI) product suite, and the Health Catalyst Data Platform —earned HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year (r2) Certification in 2022.
