World Health Day

Every year on April 7, World Health Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) calls global attention to an urgent health issue impacting our communities. WHO is the United Nations agency responsible for “connecting nations, partners and people to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable.”

According to the organization, more than 13 million people die every year due to avoidable environmental causes, such as polluted water, inadequate sanitation, contaminated food supply, and toxic inhalation. The organization views the climate crisis as the single biggest health threat facing humanity. It is apt that this the theme of this year’s World Health Day, “Our Planet, Our Health,” will focus on “urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.”

We believe that the recognition of World Health Day not only serves as a reminder of the importance of clean air, safe water, sanitation, healthy food, and well-being, but also serves as a catalyst for the individual changes we can all make to improve Our Planet, Our Health.

Within our own corporate community, Health Catalyst has committed to practicing the following ideals in support of Our Planet, Our Health.

In Our Office

  • We’re remote first. We believe our hard-working team members are equally engaged working from the office as they are at home.
  • We’re digital first. Documents, reports, hand-outs, and more, we’re conscious limit the use of unnecessary paper documentation.
  • We’re green. We recognize the impact of single-use kitchen products and are proud to display our Health Catalyst-branded glasses, mugs, plates, bowls, and silverware.
  • We limit energy use. Motion detection lights throughout our offices limit unnecessary electricity and power use.

In Our Communities

  • A culture of values. Our Cultural Attributes and Operating Principles don’t live within the virtual and physical walls of Health Catalyst. We encourage team members to practice these values because we believe we can create more productive and healthy communities when we do.
  • Health is a priority. From Quarterly Health Challenges and gym stipends to no-cost mental health, meditation, and physical therapy benefits for our team members, we’re creating a community that values well-being.
