William Malm

VP, Revenue Transformation

William L. Malm, ND, RN, CRCR, CMAS, CHIAP, is the Vice President of Financial Transformation at Health Catalyst, where he leads enterprise initiatives in pharmacy and supply analytics, charge capture optimization, and enterprise revenue integrity. A nationally recognized author and speaker, Bill brings more than 25 years of clinical, audit, and financial experience to his work with hospitals and health systems.  

Since joining Vitalware and Health Catalyst in 2020, Bill has led the organization’s CDM Review team, completing more than 500 chargemaster reviews and hundreds of charge capture audits. His expertise spans denials management, charge capture accuracy, and regulatory compliance, supported by a career-long focus on implementing processes, systems, and software that improve productivity, efficiency, and financial performance.  

Bill is a subject matter expert for the Revenue Cycle Explorer application, shaping analytics, workflows, and best‑practice methodologies that support denial prevention and enterprise revenue integrity. He previously served on the product design and development team for VitalIntegrity and later managed the VitalIntegrity operations team, contributing to strategy, enhancement roadmaps, and audit methodologies.  

Before joining Health Catalyst, Bill held leadership roles across the industry, including Director of Revenue Integrity at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Interim Client Services Manager and Denials Specialist at ZirMed, Sr. Data Manager at Craneware, and consulting roles with BRG and HRIS. His earlier clinical and compliance experience includes roles with CSA, UHHS, Columbia HCA, and the Cleveland Clinic.  

Bill currently serves as President of the Certification Council of Medical Auditors and co‑hosts Appeal Academy’s Finally Friday national healthcare discussion series.
